What is the expected batty life without the solar charger and why is a 5W panel $80! Is there something proprietary that makes it superior to a $10-20 panel.

Battery life greatly depends on how much activity you have in front of the light every night. The light glows at a low 5% intensity all night until sensing motion, so very little power is consumed unless game is detected in front of the light. If you don't have a ton of action and the Slow Glow is only seeing motion for 1-2 hours a night, a fully charged 12v battery (without solar charger) will last 4-6 nights. If you have moderate activity and the light is detecting substantial motion throughout the night, expect about 3 nights of hunting.
